§ 71.7     Bankruptcy Rule 3012: Valuation of Security

On motion, the court may determine the value of collateral and thus the allowable amount of a secured claim. Bankruptcy Rule 3012 implements § 506(a) of the Code and is a powerful tool for splitting undersecured claims and stripping the liens of wholly unsecured claim holders in Chapter 13 cases.
