To properly fix jurisdiction and venue and to have any hope of maintaining contact with the debtor over the years of a Chapter 13 case, counsel must get accurate addresses and phone numbers and alternative methods for contacting the debtor—the names of friends or relatives of the debtor to use in the event the debtor otherwise disappears. Debtors with a history of frequent moves and debtors with temporary employment or job sites that change present special communication problems often best solved by maintaining contact through a more stable friend or relative.
